Global Eagle Entertainment’s (GEE) Ku-band satellite connectivity system, AIRCONNECT, is now catalog offerable on new Boeing 737 aircraft.

With inclusion in the catalog, airlines can now order new Boeing 737s with the option of including GEE’s Ku antenna and system in their aircraft prior to delivery.

Dave Davis, CEO at GEE, said: “We’re excited to deepen our relationship with Boeing, as GEE now offers current and future customers the ease of ordering our AIRCONNECT system directly from the Boeing catalog.

“We believe offerability directly from Boeing is a key differentiator among our customers, and will drive future orders and customer wins for GEE.

“It provides airlines that are expanding their fleets or replacing aircraft with another reason to choose our leading system as they plan future orders and installations.”

The news comes on the back of GEE’s recent announcement that it is to provide connectivity services aboard new Norwegian Air Shuttle (NAS) flights.

Davis added: “NAS uses GEE’s AIRCONNECT IFEC system globally to provide passengers with free WIFI services as well as an entertainment portal that offers a unique passenger experience.

“We look forward to enabling Norwegian to launch its new Caribbean flights with Live TV, the Caribbean’s first free WI-FI, music streaming, the latest movies and more.

“As Norwegian and NAS grow their fleet and add regions to their global portfolio, GEE has the satellite capacity through a strategic partnership with SES to meet the connectivity and entertainment demands of their passengers anywhere in the world for years to come.”

GEE also announced last month that it had been selected to equip Dubai-based flydubai’s current and future fleet of Next-Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft with its broadband Airconnect satellite connectivity system.

The deployment on flydubai will be the industry’s first to provide a bundled solution of inflight connectivity, in-seat IFE content and a provision for operations data, all from a single provider.

GEE will also introduce a new capability that updates the media content on the in-seat IFE system already in place on flydubai aircraft via Airconnect.
