Cobham has received the “Best Performer Award in systems and equipment, cabin and propulsion” from Airbus in its Best in Class 2015 Partner Awards.

The award was presented to Cobham Antennas in Dourdan, which is part of Cobham Aerospace Communications, in recognition for its supply of satellite communication antennas to Airbus and specifically for ‘maturity, for cross-programmes communication antennas, as well as sustainability of excellent performance’.

The Cobham antennas, which are designed and manufactured at Cobham South Africa’s facility in Westlake, Cape Town, are installed on all Airbus jetliners, from the 124-seat A319 to the 550-seat A380 superjumbos, and the all new mid-size ultra-long haul A350 XWB.

Airbus acknowledged eight suppliers’ outstanding contribution in the areas of aerostructure and material, systems and equipment – cabin and propulsion and general procurement.

The awarded suppliers were selected by the Airbus Executive Committee in consultation with business stakeholders. Superior performances in areas such as pragmatic innovation, high-quality product delivery and services as well as the importance of a strong collaborative business partnership qualify this year’s winners.

In 2014, Airbus spent more than €32.4 billion with over 7,200 direct suppliers worldwide.

Cobham SATCOM’s range of aeronautical standalone AVIATOR High Gain, Intermediate Gain and Low Gain antennas features an aerodynamic profile and a small footprint for optimum performance.

From the AVIATOR HGA-7001 to the LGA-3000, the family of phased array fuselage and tail cap mount Inmarsat antennas is ideal for air transport aircraft, business aircraft, surveillance aircraft and helicopters.
