Astronics receives China STC for FliteStream connectivity

Astronics logoAstronics Corporation has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Astronics AeroSat, recently received a Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Validation of Supplemental Type Certification (VSTC) for its satellite communications (SATCOM) connectivity system.

The VSTC validates Astronics AeroSat’s FliteStream F-310 connectivity system and its new ARINC 791-style AeroShield radome and adapter plate.

Astronics says the FliteStream F-Series is ideal for large commercial air transport, VVIP,  head of state, and special mission aircraft.

It can provide Direct Broadcast Service (DBS-TV) satellite television and broadband data/internet access

Passengers and crew can enjoy wireless broadband data connectivity, live TV, streaming video, Voice over IP (VoIP), and video conferencing.

The F-310 uses next-gen Ku-Band High Throughput Satellite (HTS) technology and can also operate over existing Ku-band wide-beam satellites.

The company says the easy-to-install system comes complete with antenna, antenna control and HTS MODEM unit (ACMU), high power transceiver (HPT), radome, and radome attachment ring.

The AeroShield radome system was developed using ARINC 791 standards, which provides a simplified and standardised installation.

It also provides future-proofing of SATCOM installations, allowing future SATCOM upgrades when available, commonality and interchangeability across entire fleets, and easy de-modification during end-of-lease restoration.

The company also has its T-series Ku-band systems that feature a Rexolin lens for maximum performance. The T-350 has the unique capability of receiving both broadband internet and live regional DBS-TV Ku-band signals in a single antenna package, saving weight, fuel burn, cost, and improves aircraft system reliability and availability.

Astronics AeroSat’s patented Rexolite lens technology increases efficiency and signal sensitivity by eliminating the need for a signal blocking feed horn.

In March 2017 Satcom Direct (SD) announced an agreement with Astronics AeroSat to sell the FliteStream T-Series tail mount connectivity system through SD’s global dealer network.
