3G connectivity in the air
AeroMobile is a UK based subsidiary of Panasonic, which provides the facility for calling, texting and using data whilst inflight. Passengers can connect using their own smart devices while on board the aircraft. AeroMobile’s technology can either be retrofitted to aircraft or selected for line fit at the point of manufacture for both Boeing and Airbus products.
Kevin Rogers, Sr Director Mobility Panasonic Avionics, CEO AeroMobile, commented,
“We are pleased to partner with TrueMove Thailand and broaden the reach of our connectivity services across this region. With the new inflight roaming bundle, TrueMove’s customers no longer need to worry about continuing to communicate whilst traveling. This new market-leading package shows a continued commitment to providing the very best service to customers.”
Working in conjunction with Panasonic Avionics, AeroMobile provides 3G connectivity inflight. Using a combination of Panasonic’s Ku-band satellite service and ATG technology, the service brings faster browsing directly to customer’s smart devices on board the aircraft. Passengers simply take their phone out of airplane mode, and the system automatically connects to the onboard 3G service.
The service is used extensively with a number of airlines including Aer Lingus, Alitalia, Air Italy, Air Serbia, Asiana Airlines, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad, EuroWings, EVA Air, EgyptAir, Kuwait Airways, Malaysian Airlines, Lufthansa, Malindo Air, Qatar Airways, SAS, Singapore Airlines, SWISS, TAP Air Portugal, Turkish Airlines, Uzbekistan Airways, and Virgin Atlantic.
